Easy Baked Bean Recipe

Baked Beans

Baked beans are one of my favorite side dishes to any kind of smoked meat or BBQ! I like to use cans of baked beans and doctor them up! These baked beans can be baked in the oven or cooked out on a smoker. I prefer to smoke them if I am smoking meat.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 28 oz cans of original baked beans

  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar

  • 1 tsp each of onion powder, chili powder, and BBQ Rub

  • 1 TBSP of garlic powder

  • 1/4 cup of chopped green pepper

  • 1/4 cup of chopped onion

  • 1 cup of ketchup

  • 1 cup of BBQ sauce

  • 1/4 cup of Dijon mustard

  • 2 TBSP of A1 Steak sauce

How To Make

To make these baked beans, start by spraying a 9x13 dish with cooking spray. If smoking the baked beans I like to use an aluminum foil pan for easy clean up.

Pour four large 28 oz cans of original baked beans into the pan.

Add brown sugar, onion powder, chili powder, garlic powder, and a BBQ Rub. You can use any BBQ rub you have. The one I use is local to me, but it’s called Strawberry Seasoning.

Add the chopped green pepper and chopped red onions to the pan.

Next, pour in about 1 cup of ketchup and 1 cup of BBQ sauce. I like using Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce, but you can use your favorite.

Lastly, add in some Dijon mustard and a little bit of A1 Steak Sauce.

Stir everything together well. These will bake at 375 degrees for about 1 1/2 hours or until they reach the consistency you like! The longer they cook the thicker they will get.

These can also cook on a smoker at 250 degrees for about 3-5 hours.

Baked beans are the perfect side dish for smoked meat like pulled pork, ribs, brisket, or even with burgers and hot dogs!
